Nationals Member for Ovens Valley Tim McCurdy is pleased to finally hear that as of 11:59pm Friday 22 April 2022 household close contacts will be free to leave quarantine.
Mr McCurdy said, “This is a huge relief for our local businesses that have been struggling to keep afloat over the past couple of years.
“With high vaccination rates, it is good to see that our communities, friends and families can finally get back to functioning on a post Covid-19 normal through small steps like these.”
The Victorian Government announced this recent change on the 20 April 2022*.
These new rules allow close contacts to leave quarantine provided they do the following:
- Wear a mask when they are indoors;
- Avoid sensitive settings; and
- Undertake at least five negative rapid tests over the seven days that would have previously been their self-quarantine period*.
