The new Yarrawonga Library has officially opened its doors, marking an exciting milestone for the community and providing a modern, welcoming space for locals of all ages to learn, connect and enjoy.
The Nationals’ Member for Ovens Valley, Tim McCurdy, attended the official opening on Tuesday, October 27, and said it was fantastic to see the project come to life.
“It was wonderful to be part of such a special occasion for Yarrawonga and see the community come together to celebrate this fantastic new facility,” Mr McCurdy said.
“This library is a wonderful asset for Yarrawonga and the surrounding communities, providing a welcoming space where people can come together, access resources, learn new skills and take part in a range of programs and activities.
“Libraries are about so much more than books. They are places where friendships are formed, young people can learn and grow, and people of all ages can connect with their community.
“The new facility offers modern technology, community meeting spaces and areas for events and exhibitions, creating even more opportunities for locals to get involved and make the most of what their library has to offer.”
Mr McCurdy congratulated Moira Shire Council, GV Libraries and everyone involved in delivering the project, particularly the Yarrawonga Library Community Fundraising Committee and Friends of the Yarrawonga Library, who raised more than $130,000 towards equipment, furniture and the fit-out.
“It is fantastic to see such strong community support behind a project that will benefit generations to come.
“I encourage everyone to get along, explore the new space and see firsthand what a wonderful addition it is to Yarrawonga.”
