Dear Editor,
I wish to extend my sincere congratulations to the GPs who have taken the initiative to establish Rail Trail Medical in Leongatha.
Their leadership at this critical time demonstrates a strong commitment to the health and wellbeing of the South Gippsland community.
Continuity of care is important, and it is reassuring for patients to know they can continue seeing the doctors they feel comfortable with.
In a time that has understandably caused great concern for many in our community, these GPs have shown a clear commitment to quality health care across all generations and their decision to continue practising locally is deeply appreciated.
I also acknowledge the contribution of the dedicated practice staff, Leongatha Hospital staff and the CEO, whose support has been invaluable.
My gratitude extends to other local medical clinics that stepped in to take on additional patients and extend their hours when our community most needed it.
With Rail Trail Medical preparing to open within the Leongatha Hospital precinct, I am confident the community will join me in welcoming and supporting this important service as it becomes established.
This development is a highly positive step for Leongatha and South Gippsland, and I wish the team every success as they commence operations in early March.
