Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester has released his 2026 Age Pension Guide to
help older Gippslanders, pensioners, carers and their families better understand the
support available to them.
Mr Chester said the guide provides practical information for older Australians and their
families as they navigate the Age Pension system, concessions, aged care support and
other government services.
“Older Australians make a wonderful contribution to our communities, and we have an
obligation to ensure they can access clear information about the support available in their
retirement years,” Mr Chester said.
“The Age Pension system can be complex, particularly when it comes to eligibility, income
and asset testing, investments, overseas travel and additional payments or concessions.
“This guide brings together useful information in one place and is a practical resource for
older Gippslanders, their families and carers.”
The 2026 Age Pension Guide covers topics including an introduction to the Age Pension,
eligibility rules, how assets, investments, income testing and overseas travel may affect
payments, information regarding the Pension Age, and benefits for carers.
It also includes information about health care and concession cards, aged care assistance,
support services for older Australians and other government services.
Mr Chester said his office regularly assists older Gippslanders and their families with
questions about Federal Government services and programs.
“My office is here to help Gippslanders access information and raise concerns about
federal services,” Mr Chester said.
“Whether people are already receiving the Age Pension, preparing for retirement, caring
for a loved one or simply trying to understand what support may be available, I encourage
them to get in touch if they would like a copy of the guide.”
The Age Pension Guide 2026 is available from Mr Chester’s electorate offices in Sale and
