Dear Editor,
The Nationals this week announced our plan to deliver more homes, more choice, and greater housing affordability for regional Victorians.
Our plan includes fast-tracking home building in existing, identified growth areas in regional Victoria, and working directly with local councils to support sustainable growth.
We will cut red tape, reduce costs, make it easier to build in regional Victoria, and get more families and young Victorians into their own homes.
Home ownership for regional Victorians remains out of reach under Labor. Australian Bureau of Statistics data revealed only 54,323 new homes were built statewide over the year ending September 2025 – the lowest number on an annual basis since 2014.
In September 2023, the Allan Labor Government announced a Housing Statement, which targeted the completion of 80,000 new homes a year.
However, in the two years since, only 116,025 new homes have been completed – 43,975 short of Labor’s own target.
Labor can’t manage money, can’t manage housing, and regional Victorians continue to pay the price.
Regional Victorians deserve a fresh start with The Nationals in government in November.

Leader of The Nationals
