A Liberal and Nationals Government will build a new ambulance station in Benalla, replacing a nearly 40-year-old facility that is no longer fit for purpose.
Nationals Member for Euroa Annabelle Cleeland said local paramedics were working out of a station that was letting them down.
“Our paramedics have had to manually opening broken garage doors and parking ambulances out the front. That’s not good enough when every minute counts,” Ms Cleeland said.
“When someone calls Triple Zero, they need to know help is on its way. Our paramedics need facilities that help them respond quickly, not slow them down.”
Ms Cleeland said a modern station would also help Benalla keep experienced paramedics.
“Our paramedics work incredibly hard, often in very difficult circumstances, caring for people across Benalla and the surrounding region.
“Giving them a decent place to work is critical to retaining skilled staff and maintaining a strong local service.
“Only a Liberal and Nationals Government will deliver the new station Benalla deserves. We will back the people who answer the call.”
