Regional Victorians are just 100 days away from the opportunity to vote for a fresh start and The Nationals plan to end the waste and stop the corruption so we can deliver a fair share for the regions.
Leader of The Nationals, Danny O’Brien, said the choice facing Victorians at the November 28 election was clear: continue with Labor’s failed approach, or choose a fresh start with The Nationals in government who are committed to making regional Victorians a genuine priority.
“Regional Victorians have been waiting a long time for their fair share and in 100 days they will finally have the opportunity to vote for a fresh start,” Mr O’Brien said.
“A fresh start means better roads, safer communities, stronger local services and more investment in the towns and communities that make Victoria great.
“It means a government that sees the potential of regional Victoria and is prepared to back it.
“The Nationals have a plan to make that happen through our Fair Share Guarantee, a commitment that regional Victorians will receive their fair share of government investment and services.”
The Fair Share Guarantee will ensure at least 25 per cent of infrastructure spending is directed to regional Victoria, matching the proportion of Victorians who live outside metropolitan Melbourne.
Among a host of recent announcements, The Nationals have committed to:
· Deliver a Fair Share Guarantee, directing 25 per cent of infrastructure spending to regional Victoria, up from Labor’s current 12 per cent.
· Invest $5 billion to fix Victoria’s roads and eliminate one million potholes.
· Recruit 3,000 police to make communities safer and tackle rising crime.
· Break Bail, Face Jail, with tougher bail and sentencing laws and Adult Time for Adult Crime.
· Cancel VNI West.
· Scrap the unfair emergency services tax
· Give farmers their rights back, by scrapping Labor’s compulsory land access and acquisition laws.
“Our Fair Share Guarantee is about more than a number, it is about changing the way government treats regional Victorians,” Mr O’Brien said.
“For too long, our regions have been treated as an afterthought. That changes with The Nationals in government.
“We want regional Victorians to have the roads, hospitals, schools, police and community services they deserve, and the opportunity to build a strong future in the communities they call home.
“After 12 years of Labor, Victorians have the opportunity to choose something better.
“Now it is time to look forward.
“Over the next 100 days, we will show Victorians exactly what a Nationals and Liberal Government will do from day one to build a stronger, safer and more prosperous state.
“Regional Victorians have waited long enough for their fair share. In 100 days, they can vote for a fresh start, a brighter future and a government that will finally put regional Victorians first.
“The choice is clear, a fair share for our regions, a fresh start for Victoria and a brighter future for every Victorian — and that starts with electing The Nationals and Liberals to government on November 28.”
