Victoria has been left short-changed on critical infrastructure funding by the Albanese Labor Government’s Budget.
Anthony Albanese has ripped almost $5 billion from Victorian infrastructure projects, including the Wellington Road duplication, Monash rail, Napoleon Road upgrade, Glenferrie Road level crossing removal and the East West Link.
In return, Anthony Albanese has given $2.2 billion to Daniel Andrews’ pet project – the $35 billion Cheltenham to Box Hill rail line which remains unassessed by Infrastructure Australia.
As a consequence, 85 cents of every dollar of new Commonwealth infrastructure spending in Victoria will be for a project no one wants and doesn’t stack up.
Shadow Minister for Transport Infrastructure, Dr Matt Bach, said by cutting infrastructure projects, Labor was putting politics ahead of people yet again.
“Instead of funding much-needed community projects across Victoria, Anthony Albanese has put all his eggs into one basket – Daniel Andrews’ pet project.”
“The position of the Liberals and Nationals is clear. We will shelve Daniel Andrews’ $35 billion Cheltenham to Box Hill rail line and put every available cent into fixing the health crisis.”
