LETTER TO THE EDITOR
Dear Editor,
The inquiry into the cancellation of the Commonwealth Games this week reconvenes in Bendigo, the home of Premier Jacinta Allan.
It’s fallout that continues over the Labor Government’s decision to cancel the Games, costing Victorians $600 million.
Despite the Inquiry being on her own doorstep, the Premier refuses to give evidence into the demise of the Games and the nightmare rolls on.
The committee will delve into the reasons behind the unprecedented cancellation that’s destroyed the hopes and dreams of athletes and business opportunities for so many regional Victorians.
Under the Labor Government, a concerning pattern continually emerges, wherein regional Victorians find themselves disregarded and penalised.
The pain inflicted by the Allan Government upon Victorians is relentless, cutting 130 jobs from Regional Development Victoria because apart from the $20 million Tiny Towns funding, RDV has little additional grant funding to administer.
In contrast, the Nationals allocated $1 billion when last in government to the program, delivering real benefits to country communities and jobs.
The hits keep coming. Despite pledging to the CFA a fresh fleet of 48 heavy tankers to replace outdated single-cab models by late-2023, Labor has failed to deliver on its promise.
Labor can’t manage money and regional Victorians are paying the price.
Victoria requires a responsible government to reclaim the prosperity it once had, and it is within our capacity to achieve it.
It is time for decisive action and sensible governance to ensure Victoria’s future prosperity.
Peter Walsh MP
Leader of The Nationals
