Nationals Member for Ovens Valley, Tim McCurdy, was pleased to announce that a Nationals Government will put an end to Daniel Andrews’ era of spiralling debt and higher taxes.
Mr McCurdy said, “Our Long-Term Economic Plan for Victoria, which will be released over the next eight weeks is part of our plan to deliver our fair share to regional Victorians.”
“A key plank of our Long-Term Economic Plan is the legislated debt cap. With the interest bill on the Andrews Labor Government’s debt reaching more than $6 billion by 2025, our debt cap will bring wasteful spending on Melbourne centric projects under control.
“Victoria’s spiralling debt has blown it out to $167.5 billion – the biggest debt of any state in Australia, and more than New South Wales, Queensland and Tasmania combined.
“Ovens Valley residents are sick and tired of the spend and spin from the Labor Government and are looking for meaningful investment.
“A Nationals government will ensure that we stop the waste, and that 25 per cent of all infrastructure funding, will be spent in the regions.”
Mr McCurdy said that “capping Daniel Andrews’ debt and increasing independent oversight over Victoria’s finances are key planks of our Long-Term Economic Plan for Victoria.”
“A Nationals Government will give Victoria the fresh start it needs, so that we can fix the health crisis, drive down the cost of living and deliver real solutions for all Victorians.”
