The Nationals’ Member for Eastern Victorian, Melina Bath is encouraging local angling clubs to apply for funding through the Stronger Fishing Clubs Grant Program.
The program offers grants of up to $10,000 per club to support projects such as:
- Fishing tuition for multicultural groups, women, First Nations people and all-abilities participants
- Club open days
- Member training and public events
- Guest speaker nights
- Club IT upgrades
- Club website development
- Clubroom improvements
- Equipment that benefits all members
“Fishing is an accessible, low cost recreational activity that can be enjoyed by people of all ages, it’s a wonderful experience that families can participate in together” Ms Bath said.
“It promotes mental wellbeing by encouraging people to slow down, connect with nature and enjoy peaceful moments away from the hustle of daily life, while supporting the regional economy through tourism, tackle shops and community events.
“Whether casting a line from the shore, jetty or heading out on a boat, fishing offers a unique blend of relaxation and excitement.”
Ms Bath said a successful grant can help our angling clubs make small but meaningful improvements to their operations and run activities that encourage more people to get involved in and enjoy the benefits of fishing.
“I encourage our local fishing groups to take advantage of this opportunity.”
Applications for the 2025-26 funding round are now open and will close on 30 November 2025.
