AFL fans could experience more kick-to-kick opportunities on the hallowed MCG turf and other Victorian grounds under a Matt Guy Liberals and Nationals Government.
Working with the AFL, MCC, Kardinia Park Stadium Trust, more kick-to-kick opportunities could be made available for footy fans and families.
The after match kick-to-kick tradition has been symbolic of our great game, and with crowds flocking back to the footy after two years of lockdown, bringing family-friendly activities back to the ground will be a priority of the Liberals and Nationals.
The Liberals and Nationals would also work with the AFL and the stadiums to expand on family-friendly supporter hubs which would be open pre-game to further promote developing skills of our next generation of stars and the ability to interact with players, coaches and team mascots.
Pre-COVID, these hubs saw children both young and old test their skills, whilst providing valuable work experience for AFL SportsReady trainees and cadets.
As part of the Liberals and Nationals commitment to family-friendly footy, we would also work to reopen Yarra Park for event parking.
Leader of the Liberal Party, Matt Guy, saidstepping back out onto the world’s most famous stadiums would be a dream come true.
“There is no better sight in football than hundreds of boys and girls kicking the footy on the ‘G after the big game – aside of course from St Kilda winning the premiership.”
“These priceless moments, whether it’s on the MCG, Marvel Stadium or down at Kardinia Park, are a dream come true for so many Victorian children, and it’s time it’s brought back for good.”
“Opening up the hallowed turf once again will only further inspire the next generation of AFL and AFLW stars.”
