The Nationals’ Member for Mildura, Jade Benham, has announced a $3 million commitment towards completing Swan Hill Rural City Council’s Robinvale Riverfront Masterplan, under an elected Nationals and Liberals Government.
The funding will deliver the next stage of improvements to the riverfront, building on work already completed and helping create a more connected, accessible and welcoming space for the Robinvale community.
Projects would include completing irrigation and landscaping at Centenary Park, cosmetic upgrades to the Robinvale Community Arts Centre to create opportunities for retail, and new car parking on Robin Street near the planned playground and dog park. The broader masterplan also aims to open up more local land for housing and improve connections between the town centre and the Murray River.
Ms Benham said the commitment would help finish the work already underway and make the most of Robinvale’s riverfront for residents, community groups and visitors.
“This is about finishing what we’ve already started in Robinvale and making sure the community can enjoy the full benefits of the riverfront,” Ms Benham said.
“Centenary Park, the Community Arts Centre and the surrounding spaces are important parts of the town. These upgrades will make them more usable for families, community events and local businesses.
“The broader plan also presents an opportunity to make Robinvale a more attractive option for the Departments of Education and Health for workforce accommodation, helping make it easier to attract and retain the workers the community needs.”
The commitment forms part of The Nationals’ Fair Share Guarantee, which would ensure regional Victoria receives 25 per cent of new Victorian Government infrastructure spending.
Ms Benham said regional communities needed infrastructure investment that reflected their needs and supported future growth.
“Robinvale is just as important as every regional town, and it deserves its share of investment in the infrastructure and facilities that help communities grow.
“Only The Nationals and Liberals in government will deliver the Fair Share Guarantee, ensuring 25 per cent of new Victorian Government infrastructure spending goes to regional Victoria.”
