Dear Editor
Twelve months ago, Jacinta Allan rolled out her $13 million machete bin program with great fanfare.
Those bins have been removed and turned into scrap metal, a fitting symbol of a government defined by waste, spin and financial mismanagement.
Victorians were promised action on crime. Instead, the latest figures show more than 630,000 offences were recorded across the state last year, while criminal incidents reached the highest level since records began.
The reality is that expensive publicity stunts do not make communities safer.
While Labor wastes millions on failed programs, Victoria is racing towards almost $200 billion in debt, money that should be delivering the roads, hospitals, schools and police our communities need.
The Nationals are serious about tackling Victoria’s crime crisis. We will stop the waste, end the corruption and deliver 3,000 additional police. We will introduce Jack’s Law to give police the power to detect knives before they are used and implement Break Bail, Face Jail so repeat offenders face real consequences.
Victorians deserve safer streets and a government focused on results, not headlines.

Leader of The Nationals
