Daniel Andrews is failing our farmers.
Parts of Victoria have been in a severe drought for two seasons now but Daniel Andrews hasn’t visited any of the affected communities.
Today in State Parliament, the Premier refused to visit the Millewa and meet with farmers or provide shire and water rates relief.
Farmers in the Millewa feel slighted that the Premier was in Mildura last week and wouldn’t make the effort to drive 15 minutes down the road to see the conditions first-hand, as they struggle through the worst conditions since the 1944-45 drought.
Similarly, farmers in East Gippsland and northern Victoria have seen neither hide nor hair of the Premier for Melbourne.
Farmers have been asking for rates relief since February, but Daniel Andrews is ignoring them.
Daniel Andrews needs to start listening to our farmers and provide desperately-needed shire and water rates relief for all drought-affected areas.
When our farmers are doing it tough, our country towns hurt too and it’s shameful that Daniel Andrews and his city-centric government are neglecting these communities.
