The Seymour RSL is set for a major upgrade, with a Liberal and Nationals Government to contribute $500,000 towards a new events space and upgraded kitchen.
The Nationals Member for Euroa Annabelle Cleeland said the investment would help the Seymour RSL continue to provide an important meeting place for local veterans, serving Australian Defence Force personnel from Puckapunyal and their families.
“The Seymour RSL is an important part of our community, bringing together veterans, serving personnel and their families,” Ms Cleeland said.
“These spaces matter. They give people the opportunity to come together, share experiences and stay connected with others who understand the unique demands of service.
“This $500,000 commitment will help deliver a new events space and an upgraded kitchen, giving the Seymour RSL more opportunities to host events and support the people who rely on it.”
Ms Cleeland said the commitment was backed by the Liberal and Nationals’ Fair Share Guarantee, which would ensure regional Victoria received at least 25 per cent of new state government infrastructure investment.
“Regional communities deserve their fair share of investment, and that includes the organisations that support our veterans and serving personnel,” Ms Cleeland said.
The announcement comes as the Seymour RSL community recently gathered for its Black Tie Ball on 17 October, where three members were recognised for their outstanding service to the organisation.
Ms Cleeland acknowledged life members John Phoenix OAM, John Blackwell and Bruce Tarran, recognising their contributions to the Seymour RSL and the wider veteran community.
“Congratulations to John Phoenix OAM, John Blackwell and Bruce Tarran on being recognised as life members,” Ms Cleeland said.
“Life membership is a significant honour, reflecting years of commitment and service to the organisation and its members.
“I also congratulate the Seymour RSL on a wonderful Black Tie Ball. It was a fitting opportunity to recognise the people who have given so much to support veterans, serving personnel and their families.”
Ms Cleeland said the investment would help the Seymour RSL continue its important work for the community for years to come.
