The Liberals and Nationals have recently launched a new positive campaign set to fill the workforce shortages and bring thousands of skilled workers to regional Victoria.
Mr McCurdy said, “Our skilled workers are essential for our regions. Without enough workers in our hospitality industries, school sectors, hospitals, farms and so on, many businesses are forced to struggle.”
He continued, “Our communities are still recovering from the impacts of Covid-19 and the Skilled Work Regional visa is a great solution to ensure priority is given to migrants who are highly skilled in a defined ‘critical sector’.
“This can ensure more GPs, nurses, psychologists, counsellors, or accommodation, hospitality and even seasonal vegetable workers are available across Victoria.”
Mr McCurdy concluded, “The Liberals and Nationals are urging the Victorian Government to immediately work to secure at least the 3,640 visas as recorded in New South Wales, instead of Victoria’s minimal 750.
“We urge the Commonwealth to allocate at least 3,600 visas to Victoria (not including those who are renewing their current visa).
“This is the best way workers can be brought back into our state and helps our businesses and the economy recover and rebuild.”
