Nationals Member for Ovens Valley Tim McCurdy recently encountered the disastrous state of regional Victoria’s railway services when his usual trainline commute from Shepparton to Melbourne turned into a replacement bus trip.
Mr McCurdy said, “I really feel for our regional residents. My experience is just one example of what occurs for our local residents on a regular basis.
“It is disappointing to think that despite all the money spent on our rail lines, our regional residents travel routes are still being interrupted because of unreliable services.
“Regional passengers should be reassured that when they book their train ticket they will arrive at their destination on time.”
He continued, “Our train services are the vessel that will boost our regions and get tourists back to seeing what attractions regional Victoria has to offer.
“If the Victorian Government wants Victorians to travel to our regions more frequently, they need to start listening to our regional communities and start addressing their concerns about what needs to be changed.”
