Dear Editor,
The Allan Labor Government’s regional housing plan simply doesn’t add up.
Announced late last week amid a flurry of spin, it is nothing but a missed opportunity – and basic mathematics proves it.
Labor spruiked it will deliver 1300 social and affordable homes across regional Victoria through the $1 billion Regional Housing Fund.
Using basic division, that adds up to almost $800,000 to build each of those 1300 properties.
It is significantly more than the cost of a standard house and land package in regional Victoria.
Where does the word “affordable” fit in here?
Surely, we can build more than 2000 social and “affordable” homes so desperately needed throughout Victoria for that $1 billion.
Labor can’t manage money and regional Victorians are paying the price.
