Dear Editor
Victorians should expect that money and effort aimed at improving Indigenous outcomes actually reach the people it is meant to help. Under the Carroll Labor Government, the focus has been on process. It should be on results.
An elected Liberal and Nationals Government will not proceed with Victoria’s Treaty process. Instead, we will establish First Nations Victoria, a standalone agency that works directly with Indigenous communities and Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) to ensure support and investment reach the frontline.
Our focus will be on supporting Indigenous Victorians through better healthcare, mental health support, housing, employment and community safety. These will come with clear targets and accountability for progress, so Victorians can see whether the investment is making a difference.
We believe government should be judged by the outcomes it delivers. We will continue working alongside ACCOs to ensure that investment is delivering better outcomes for Indigenous Victorians.
