A final reminder for locals who are holders of a Pensioner Concession Card, some Health Care Card holders (including JobSeeker, Youth Allowance, Austudy and Abstudy recipients) and those with a Department of Veterans Affairs Card, to make sure they’ve applied for the $250 Power Saving Bonus.
The Power Saving Bonus is a State Government initiative to support eligible Victorian households with the cost of energy. Nationals State Member for Gippsland East, Tim Bull, is reminding those who receive payments under the above programs should check their eligibility for the $250 bonus and apply before June 30.
A second Power Saving Bonus round will open on July 1 for all households, but it is important that eligible applicants for round one receive their $250.
“Last year I wrote to a number of my constituents advising them of the program, however I couldn’t capture all eligible applicants due to the eligibility criteria,” Mr Bull said.
“Applications for the current Power Saving Bonus round have been open for almost 18 months and eligible households already in receipt of the $250 bonus can only apply once until the new round opens on July 1.
“For those who have not yet applied, applications can be lodged online or by phone, but don’t forget to have a recent energy bill and your Pension, approved Health Care Card or Veterans Affairs card with you to apply.
“If you think you know of someone that may be eligible, I encourage you to strike up a conversation with them to ask if they’ve already applied for the Power Saving Bonus.
“We don’t want any eligible household to miss out on this opportunity.
“And on July 1, all Victorian energy customers will be able to apply for the one-off $250 payment, that comes at a time where all households can seek some financial relief to manage the climbing cost-of-living pressures.
“For more information or assistance to apply online, please contact my office on 5152 3491,” Mr Bull said.
