Dear Editor,
Congratulations to young Mildura speedway rider Blake Schlein on becoming the 2026 FIM SGP4 World Champion in Sweden.
For a young rider from our region to win a world title is an extraordinary achievement, and one the entire Mildura community can be incredibly proud of.
Success like this doesn’t happen overnight. It reflects years of dedication from Blake, and countless hours of support from his parents and extended family.
This achievement also belongs to the many volunteers, coaches and supporters at Olympic Park Speedway who have spent hundred of hours supporting and mentoring young riders so local kids can chase their dreams. Community sport is built on people who quietly get the job done, and this world championship is a testament to their efforts as much as Blake’s talent.
Mildura has a remarkable history of producing champions, and Blake has now written his own chapter in Sunraysia’s proud sporting history. As I said in my maiden speech in Parliament and will keep saying until my lips bleed: “In Mildura, we put food on your plate and champions on racetracks!”
Congratulations again, Blake. You’ve made your family, your club and your entire community incredibly proud, and I have no doubt your achievement will inspire the next generation of young speedway riders to dream big.
Warm regards,
