Dear Editor,
As the final round of the 2026 Penrite Australian Superbike Championship approaches, I would like to wish five-time Australian Champion Josh Waters all the very best as he prepares to compete at Queensland Raceway.
Josh has been a mainstay of Australian motorcycle racing for many years and has built a reputation not only for his outstanding success on the track, but also for the humility, professionalism and dedication he displays away from it. While he is known for his quiet and unassuming nature, there is no doubting the fierce competitive spirit that has seen him rise to the very top of the sport.
The Mildura region has followed Josh’s career with great pride, and I know many locals will be cheering him on as he heads into the championship decider. Currently sitting second in the overall standings, Josh remains firmly in contention for another Australian Superbike Championship.
It is also fitting that Josh’s achievements are being recognised on the international stage, with an invitation to compete in the Lenovo Race of Champions during World Ducati Week at Misano, Italy, in July. As Ducati celebrates its 100th anniversary, Josh will line up alongside some of the world’s leading Superbike and MotoGP riders.
To be invited to such a prestigious international event is a testament to Josh’s standing within the sport and recognition of the respect he has earned throughout a long and successful racing career.
On behalf of the Mildura community, I extend my congratulations to Josh on this incredible opportunity and wish him every success both at Queensland Raceway and on the world stage in Italy.
Warm regards,
