A Nationals and Liberals Government will commit to funding two mobile CCTV trailers for deployment in high-risk areas across Mildura.
The Nationals’ Member for Mildura, Jade Benham, said the mobile units would feature 360-degree recording, night vision and remote monitoring, giving Victoria Police another tool to support officers responding to crime.
“Crime has gone up under Labor and regional communities have been let down,” Ms Benham said.
“Mildura now has the fourth-highest rate of alleged offenders in Victoria, and our community deserves better than a government that has allowed crime to continue to rise.
“Police are out there doing a difficult job, and they need the resources, support and laws to back them up.”
The Nationals and Liberals have a comprehensive plan for safer communities, including 3,000 more police, fixing Victoria’s broken justice system and effective early intervention to help young people move away from a life of crime.
Shadow Minister for Police, Brad Battin, said the mobile CCTV trailers would give Victoria Police another practical tool to respond to crime and target high-risk areas.
“These trailers can be moved to different locations as circumstances change, giving police an added layer of coverage across the Mildura community,” Mr Battin said.
The two mobile CCTV trailers will give Victoria Police greater flexibility to respond to crime and monitor high-risk areas across Mildura, providing additional support for frontline police.
Ms Benham said a stronger approach to community safety was needed.
“Regional Victorians deserve to feel safe in their homes and communities, and they deserve a government that takes that responsibility seriously.
“Only The Nationals and Liberals will deliver a fresh start by backing our police, standing with victims and making our communities safe.”
