A Nationals and Liberals Government will fund a comprehensive masterplan to guide future infrastructure upgrades at Mildura Senior College.
The masterplan will review the entire campus, including its educational, site and infrastructure needs, and provide a clear roadmap for future investment.
The Nationals’ Member for Mildura, Jade Benham, said the college was an important regional hub for senior secondary education, VCE, VET and pathways into further study and employment.
“Mildura Senior College gives students across our region access to education and pathways that they may not find elsewhere, and its facilities need to be fit for purpose and ready for the future,” Ms Benham said.
“With part of the college now condemned, other portable classrooms nearing the end of their life and student numbers expected to grow significantly, the school needs certainty about where it is heading.
“The Nationals’ Fair Share Guarantee will ensure 25 per cent of new Victorian Government infrastructure spending goes to regional Victoria, so we need plans in place to make sure regional schools can benefit from that investment.
“This masterplan is about sitting down with the school community, understanding what is needed and developing a clear plan for the whole site.”
Shadow Minister for Education, Brad Rowswell, said the masterplan would help the college prepare for the needs of future students.
“You can’t plan for the next generation of students without first understanding what a school needs,” Mr Rowswell said. “This masterplan will give Mildura Senior College that roadmap.”
Ms Benham said the masterplan would give the school a clear direction for the future.
“Mildura Senior College needs to know what its future looks like, and this masterplan will give the school a clear direction to work towards.”
“Only The Nationals and Liberals in government will give regional Victoria its fair share and deliver a clear plan for the future of Mildura Senior College.”
