A Transport Victoria travel planner app which gave people just one minute to change platforms at Footscray Station has been fixed in a win for V/Line passengers.
The Nationals’ Member for Northern Victoria Gaelle Broad highlighted the issue late last year, saying the only way the change could be completed in the recommended time was if people flew between platforms.
“In reality, passengers must climb multiple sets of stairs, exit through the gates, descend again and swipe back through the barriers.
“For most commuters, especially those with luggage, mobility issues or children, one minute simply is not enough. Missing a V/Line service can mean waiting another hour for the next train,” Ms Broad told Parliament.
Ms Broad said she was pleased to receive a response from the Minister for Public Transport confirming the app had been updated.
“The Minister said changes have now been made to the Transport Victoria journey planner to reflect a more accurate range of five to eight minutes travel time to change between V/Line and metropolitan platforms.
“This is a real win for people from central and northern Victoria using these services,” Ms Broad said.
“It’s important that passengers have access to reliable information, especially when changing between city and V/Line services.”
