Kim O’Keeffe has informed me of her decision not to contest the coming state election.
Kim has been a champion for the Shepparton community since long before she entered Parliament.
In 2022 she helped shepherd her community through one of the worst floods in decades and was a strong voice helping the community get back on its feet.
She then secured a significant political achievement for The Nationals defeating the entrenched independent with a 12 per cent swing to her.
As the Member for Shepparton, Kim has continued her strong advocacy with a steely determination to deliver the things that her community needs, whether in healthcare, community safety, housing or roads.
When bushfires hit her region this year, Kim was among the first pitching in to help, spending hours helping feed volunteers and those in need.
Kim has always done what good Nationals MPs do – listen to her community, act on their behalf and work with the government to deliver for her electorate and for regional Victorians.
From The Nationals team, our thanks go out to Kim for her hard work, dedication and camaraderie. We wish her and her ever-supportive husband Brendan all the best for the future.
The Nationals will undertake a process to select a new candidate for Shepparton.
