Gippslanders are being asked to help bring Christmas joy to children in out-of-home care as Giving Trees for A Better Life for Foster Kids return across the region.
The Nationals Member for Gippsland South, Danny O’Brien is again encouraging locals, who are in a position to do so, to donate a gift to the appeal.
Mr O’Brien said early donations would help the charity’s founder, Heather Baird, and her team prepare and deliver gifts in time for Christmas.
“Heather and her team do an extraordinary job sorting, wrapping and delivering gifts to children across Victoria.
“Some presents are delivered personally, while others need to be posted, so donating early gives the team more time to make sure gifts reach children in time.
“Gippslanders have always been generous in supporting this appeal and I encourage anyone who is able to, to help make Christmas a little brighter for a child in care.”
Gifts must be donated unwrapped. Supporters are also asked not to donate books, food items or toys that resemble weapons.
“Board games, arts and crafts, imaginative play items, beach towels, toiletry packs and gift cards are all great ideas,” Mr O’Brien said.
“Donations of wrapping paper are also welcome and will help the team prepare the gifts for Christmas.”
Donations can be left at Giving Trees across Gippsland, including at Mr O’Brien’s office at 54B Cunninghame Street, Sale, or posted directly to:

“Every gift is an opportunity to let a child know they are thought of and cared for this Christmas,” Mr O’Brien said.
