Local Richmond families and students continue to be placed in harm’s way by Labor’s failing Medically Supervised Injecting Centre.
Confirmation that a local resident has found a significant quantity of heroin outside their front gate is the another alarming wake-up call of the dangers faced by the local community.
Concerningly, the heroin was dropped at approximately 3.30pm on a school day and could’ve easily been picked up by a local child with disastrous outcomes.
Shadow Minister for Mental Health, Emma Kealy said Daniel Andrews’ injecting centre was failing the local community.
“Labor’s injecting room model is posing a critical danger to the safety of children, families and the wider community in Richmond.”
“Labor can no longer deny that their injecting room model is completely broken and needs a complete rethink.”
“This massive quantity of drugs could have had disastrous outcomes if found by a school child on their walk home from school, whether they ingested the drugs or if they came across the heavily intoxicated dealer that dropped the drugs. It’s every parents worst nightmare, and yet Labor refuse to admit their injecting room model has fatal flaws that should not be ignored.”
“Labor’s injecting room is attracting dealers to operate next to a primary school, with children now being exposed to dead bodies, sexual acts and drug dealing. At some point the State Government have to concede that the risk to children and the community is completely unacceptable.”
“Labor’s plans to open another injecting room like Richmond in the iconic cafe precinct of DeGraves St in the CBD would be disastrous for Melbourne businesses that are struggling to recover after two years of lockdowns and restrictions.”
