Nationals Member for Ovens Valley Tim McCurdy is relieved to hear that Covid restrictions have finally been rolled back but admits this should have occurred long ago as we progress into May 2022.
Mr McCurdy said, “With the high vaccination rates within our regional communities and across Victoria, there has been no excuse for Premier Andrews to drag out the easing of these restrictions.
“With the hope of moving forward, it seems like Premier Andrews has always been two steps behind.”
He continued, “Our communities have experienced widespread mental, social, and economic damage from Victoria’s harsh lockdowns.
“We need sensible measures to appropriately live with Covid – ones that encourage those that are unwell to stay home, but if you are well to go about your business and continue working and living.”
Mr McCurdy concluded, “The Victorian Government has interrupted our road to recovery for far too long.
“Our communities need have a consistent road to recovery and not one that is solely dependent on Premier Andrews’ hope of gaining votes four months before a state election.
“It’s time to focus on positive forward-facing steps which allow our communities to recover and rebuild.”
