A leaked copy of the CFA’s Annual Report shows that under Daniel Andrews wages have blown out by $100 million while volunteer numbers are the lowest since 2006.
Nationals Member for Ovens Valley, Tim McCurdy condemns actions taken by the Andrews government through the report highlighting authorities salary soaring to $319 million as a result of new enterprise bargaining agreements.
Mr McCurdy said how vital the CFA is across the Ovens Valley and regional Victoria in protecting our communities.
“The fact that volunteer numbers are down by 5,000 due to the utmost disrespect as a result of the actions by the labor government towards the CFA who have protected our communities for over 100 years,” Mr McCurdy said
A copy of the CFA staff satisfaction survey outline 22% of staff had experienced bullying coupled with experts warning that we are expected to face the most dangerous fire season in years, “regional Victoria left feeling more vulnerable than ever before with the CFA in absolute chaos.”
Furthermore the report outlined that three out of 10 did not intend on staying at their CFA job, and only 59 per cent were satisfied in their positions, exacerbating a $635 million operating cost this year.
“The result of the war between Daniel Andrews and the CFA has left Victorian communities stunned as to how they believe their families will be protected this fire season,”
North East Victoria respects our CFA volunteers and we urge Premier Andrews to show them the respect that they deserve.
