More than 360,000 Victorian students, their families and school communities are set to benefit under a new commitment announced today by the Victorian Liberals and Nationals.
With almost one in two Victorian secondary school students enrolled in a non-government school, and independent schools experiencing the fastest rate of growth in Victoria, it is essential this sector is supported to continue delivering the education our children deserve.
Therefore, a Matt Guy Liberals and Nationals Government will deliver real solutions to support our students learning by providing $175 million per year over four years to the non-government school sector for school capital support.
This commitment will better support non-government schools to keep pace with growing infrastructure demands and continue to provide the educational facilities students deserve.
Leader of the Liberal Party, Matt Guy, said the Liberals and Nationals had real solutions to get students’ learning and development back on track.
“After the world’s longest lockdown and seven consecutive interrupted school terms, investing in our non-government schools is a critical step to catching-up on two years of lost learning.”
“The Liberals and Nationals have real solutions to ensure all students, regardless of where they go to school, have access to the high-quality education they deserve.”
Shadow Minister for Education, David Hodgett, said this commitment acknowledged the important role non-government schools play in educating and supporting students.
“Non-government schools are a rapidly growing sector that deliver considerable benefits to local communities and deserve to be supported.”
“This important commitment will mean better facilities for hundreds of thousands of students and provide much-needed certainty for school communities across Victoria.”
