A Matt Guy Liberals and Nationals Government will get to work on delivering a state-of-the-art health service on Phillip Island, which has sat idle under Daniel Andrews and Labor.
In the lead up to the 2018 Victorian Election, Daniel Andrews promised to build 10 community hospitals around the state. Fast forward to today, and none have been delivered, with all empty promises still languishing in the design phase.
One of those hospitals promised but not delivered is on Phillip Island, and locals know better than anyone that their community deserves better healthcare too.
Unlike Labor, the Liberals and Nationals understand that better healthcare can’t wait and we’ll get on and deliver the hospital the Phillip Island community needs and deserves.
The commitment forms part of the Liberals and Nationals’ plan to fix the health system in Victoria, which includes new or upgraded facilities at hospitals right around the state.
Shadow Minister for Health, Georgie Crozier, said fixing the health system wasn’t all about big ticket announcements, but ensuring smaller health facilities are supported too.
“The priority for a Liberals and Nationals Government will be to fix the health system once and for all, and it starts by delivering modern facilities like right here on Phillip Island,” Ms Crozier said.
“With Labor’s track record of failing to deliver these community hospitals, why would anyone trust them to be the ones to see it through?”
Liberal Candidate for Bass, Aaron Brown, said the Phillip Island community deserved better.
“Locals have already been forced to wait too long for promises that never came. We’ll get on and build this facility because that’s what they deserve,” Mr Brown said.
“Community hospitals play a vital role in keeping pressure off the larger health services in the area, and it’s important we deliver it urgently.”
The Nationals Candidate for Bass, Brett Tessari, said locals had been waiting long enough for this community hospital.
“The Phillip Island community deserve to know that come November 26, if the Liberals and Nationals form Government their long-awaited Community Hospital will be a priority,” Mr Tessari said.
“Our locals deserve the very best a modern and responsive healthcare system can offer.”
