Victorians are being asked to believe that swapping the captain fixes a ship that’s already taking on water. It doesn’t.
Ben Carroll didn’t just sit in cabinet — he sat right beside Jacinta Allan, taking her marching orders every Sunday night and following them blindly into cabinet every Monday morning. Not once did he speak up. Not once did he push back. Every failure of this government is his failure too — the roads regional Victorians drive on every day left to crumble, the power reliability failures that leave our communities in the dark, a V/Line service regional families can’t rely on, and bushfire-affected communities still waiting on the recovery they were promised. He sat around that table and said nothing, while regional Victoria paid the price.
Ben Carroll is not a leader. He’s a first mate who never once questioned the course, right up until the iceberg was in view.
Regional Victorians won’t be fooled by a new name on the captain’s door while the same crew, the same culture and the same failures remain. My commitment to our community is that the Nationals will give regional Victorians a fresh start this November, and will stop the waste, end the corruption, so regional Victorians can finally get their fair share.
