Seymour to finally get its community centre: $3.9 million for Kings Park
A Liberal and Nationals Government will invest $3.9 million to upgrade Seymour’s Kings Park Reserve, delivering a new community centre for local clubs and the wider Seymour community.
The upgrade will include a cafeteria, club change rooms, office space, an event space, a bar and upgraded sporting facilities.
Nationals Member for Euroa Annabelle Cleeland MP said Seymour had gone without a proper community space for too long.
“Kings Park is home to many local clubs, including Seymour Lions Football and Netball Club, Riding for the Disabled, Seymour Running Club, AusKick and many others, but Seymour still doesn’t have a town hall or a large community space of its own,” Ms Cleeland said.
“I’ve listened to the clubs, and they deserve facilities that are fit for purpose, accessible and built to last.
“This centre will give them change rooms, an office and better sporting facilities, and give the whole town a place to hold events and come together.
“After the floods, we also know how important it is that community infrastructure is resilient and ready when people need it most.”
Ms Cleeland said the commitment was part of the Liberals and Nationals’ Fair Share Guarantee.
“Regional Victorians make up a quarter of the state’s population, and our Fair Share Guarantee will lock in at least 25 per cent of new infrastructure spending for regional Victoria,” Ms Cleeland said.
“A Liberal and Nationals Government will make sure Seymour gets its fair share and the community facilities it deserves.”
