The Nationals have selected Andrew Lethlean as their candidate for the seat of Bendigo East, for November’s state election.
A born and bred Bendigo local, Mr Lethlean has owned and operated hospitality businesses in the area for the past 24 years.
“It’s a privilege to be The Nationals’ candidate for Bendigo East,” Mr Lethlean said.
“The Bendigo community means everything to me. It’s given me so much and I’d like to give something back. I will be fighting for every vote and if elected will fight hard every day for Bendigo.”
Mr Lethlean said he’d already started seeking feedback from locals, and their message was clear.
“They’re fed up with Labor and the current member. Families are struggling with cost-of-living pressures, crime in Bendigo is at an all-time high, our local roads are in horrible condition, and the younger generation are struggling to buy their first home because the government has dropped the ball on housing,” Mr Lethlean said.
“The Nationals are the only party that is 100 per cent focused on the future of regional Victoria. We have a plan to slash taxes and ease cost-of-living, crack down on crime, repair our roads, and help get first home buyers into their own home.”
The Nationals’ State President, Jo Armstrong, described Mr Lethlean as a local champion who was determined to provide a better future for Bendigo East.
“Andrew’s standing in the Bendigo community was reflected when he achieved a near 10 per cent swing in last May’s federal election,” Ms Armstrong said.
“The Nationals are proud to have someone of Andrew’s passion and work ethic as our candidate for Bendigo East. Andrew joins a strong Nationals’ team committed to ensuring Bendigo East, and regional Victoria, gets its fair share.”
