The Nationals Member for Gippsland South, Danny O’Brien is highlighting that local families may be eligible to have up to $200 of their children’s sport fees reimbursed through the State Government’s Get Active program.
Mr O’Brien said many people are already aware of the Get Active vouchers available through registered club providers, but don’t realise they could still be eligible to have their fees reimbursed even if the club or organisation is not a registered provider.
Mr O’Brien highlighted that reimbursements are available under the program’s guidelines – as long as the provider is affiliated with a Sport and Recreation Victoria recognised Victorian State Sporting Association (SSA) or Victorian State Sport and Active Recreation Body (SSARB).
“A lot of our local regional clubs and sporting groups are not able to be approved as registered providers for the voucher system due to not being incorporated entities,” Mr O’Brien said.
“This was a change brought in during round 4 of the Get Active program that I am aware has particularly impacted participants at our local dance studios and other smaller sports programs.
“Other providers simply don’t have the manpower to administer the voucher program, but their participants may still be eligible to claim a reimbursement up to $200 for costs associated with membership, uniform or registration fees so I am trying to get the word out.”
Round 6 Get Active vouchers and reimbursements are available to parents of children who are/were enrolled in a recognised activity between 28 November 2022 – 10 May 2023 and meet the following criteria:
- aged 0 to 18 years;
- a Victorian resident;
- named on an issued and valid Australian Government Medicare Card (at the time of application) and;
- named on an issued and valid Australian Government Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card (at the time of application); or
- named on their own issued and valid Australian Government Health Care Card (at the time of application).
An application for a voucher or reimbursement can be made for each eligible child.
