Regional Victoria is facing a housing shortage that The Nationals will address.

We know it is getting harder and harder to own or rent a home in regional Victoria.

There are serious supply-side issues affecting regional Victoria’s housing availability that must be addressed.

The Nationals will re-establish the Rural Planning Flying Squad to fast-track 50,000 new lots in regional Victoria.

This will provide local councils with the resources and skillsets they need to assess applications faster and make it easier to plan and build new homes.

We will also slash red tape with wide-ranging reforms, fast-tracking new homes across regional Victoria.

Our $2.5 billion Bringing Manufacturing Home package will also support businesses that produce established and emerging building products.

We will also support Victoria’s sustainable timber industry, to ensure supply of quality wood products for new homes.

In addition to the above, The Nationals will provide direct support to reduce the costs of buying, owning and renting a home in regional Victoria.

To assist homeowners and renters with their energy bills, our Power to the People Plan will provide 1 million households, including for at least 100,000 rental properties, with a rebate of up to $1,400 for solar panels and $3,000 for a home battery, taking pressure off your family budget.

The Nationals guarantee that we will introduce no new taxes, and that includes on the housing market.

In comparison, Labor’s Windfall Gains Tax is set to add $25,000 to the cost of a new home and their Tradie Tax is making it harder for builders to build our homes.

The Nationals will scrap Labor’s Tradie Tax to support our builders. This slug on hard-working family builders adds pressures to their family budgets and will ultimately lead to increased housing costs for Victorians.

The Nationals will address our housing crisis and support your aspiration of owning and renting your dream home.

This November is a clear choice between a Labor government and an ongoing regional housing crisis, or The Nationals and our plan to address that crisis.
