An expert corruption report has revealed that a staggering $15 billion of taxpayers’ money has been funnelled via the CFMEU into organised crime. Yes, $15 billion, that’s $5,000 for every household in the state.

In a cost-of-living crisis, Victorians need a government that puts their lives and interests first.

Here’s a snapshot of what $15 billion in criminal kickbacks looks like for you and your family:

• $15 billion could pay for every Victorian’s energy bill for 3 years
• $15 billion could have built 30,000 new homes for Victorians
• $15 billion could pay for 52,600 new police officers to curb the all-time high crime in our state

This issue won’t be going away. The Nationals have a plan to tackle corruption on taxpayer-funded projects in Victoria:

• Introduce tough anti-racketeering laws to jail crime bosses who run and profit from organised crime.
• Create a dedicated police taskforce to seize stolen funds from government projects and return the money to taxpayers.
• Establish a Royal Commission into CFMEU misconduct to track down every dollar and hold those responsible for $15 billion in rorting to account.
• Strengthen IBAC’s powers to follow the money, expand public hearings, and expose corruption.
• Establish Construction Enforcement Victoria to police worksites, issue banning orders, and refer criminal conduct to Victoria Police and IBAC.
• Ban bikies and organised crime figures from major projects through mandatory background checks.
