Andrew Broad is the Federal Member for the Electorate of Mallee and Assistant Minister to the Deputy Prime Minister.
The Electorate of Mallee is the largest geographical electorate in the State of Victoria. It encompasses 32.5% of the state and contributes $5.3 billion annually to the Australian economy.
Andrew Broad was a cereal, oilseed and prime lamb farmer with 16 years of small business experience. He purchased his first property at the age of 22. In 2006 Andrew won the prestigious Nuffield Scholarship, allowing him the opportunity to study agriculture in over 40 countries.
Andrew is a former President of the Victorian Farmers Federation where he stood up to the Rudd - Gillard Government on issues like the carbon tax and a poorly drafted Murray Darling Basin Plan. He was also a Director of the National Farmers Federation.
Andrew was a Board Member of Australian Made, Australian Grown and a delegate to APEC (Indonesia and Russia) where he helped to develop the 2020 Asia Pacific Food Security Plan.
Andrew now lives in Mildura with his wife Rachel, an Occupational Therapist. He still has his farm, is a keen musician and private pilot who enjoys touring the Mallee electorate when he isn’t in Canberra.
