Anita grew up in a small town just outside of Bendigo before moving to Ballarat to study.
She is focussed on promoting Rural and Regional Victoria in areas of population attraction and workforce development and is passionate about ensuring quality services are delivered to everyone no matter where they live, especially health services and education.
These interests reflect her community work and the board positions she holds: Chair of Headspace Portland, Chair of Portland’s GP Super Clinic; Active Health, Chair of the Barwon South West Suicide Prevention Taskforce, and a Board Member of Portland District Health.
Anita’s interests extend beyond the region with positions on Barwon South West RDA, Great South Coast Regional Partnership, Great Ocean Road Marketing and the Rail Freight Alliance. Anita recently joined the Rail Freight Alliance as Deputy Chair because of the need to advocate for improvements in much needed rail infrastructure across the state.
As Mayor of the Glenelg Shire Council for three years and two terms on Council, Anita has the ability to get on and get things done, she has strong ties to the business community and the capacity to work strategically for better outcomes.
She believes that communities can only thrive if they have a strong economy with the backing of local businesses who have the support of government and access to resources such as highspeed internet.
Anita is married with one son who is currently undertaking VCE and lives in Portland.
